Many of you have been asking about how the renovations to my $5,000 property are going over. And, well, I’m happy to report that things are improving!
I finally put siding on this beauty and chose to go with hardie cement board siding because I thought it would look better and increase the property value. Oh, and for those wondering: You have to paint the stuff when it comes in, FYI. Doors and windows have been put up too, and those will be either framed or completely painted black before this rehabber is done.
But with any new property, I’ve also had some issues. Thanks to my self-diagnosed OCD, I noticed that the porch was slightly tilting and that one of the front-facing windows wasn’t exactly centered. While the porch is still a work in progress, but I’m happy to report that bothersome window is now completely in-line...and I can now sleep well, again.
We’ve also installed a new bathroom inside and the patio, including the railing, is also currently being worked on. I’m also thinking about swapping out the back and front doors. The current front-facing door has far more small windows than the one in the back does, so changing those would give the eventual homeowners more privacy in the entrance way, while providing the back of the house ample amounts of natural lighting. And who doesn’t like good natural lighting?
