At just 19, Monroe bought a Carlton Sheets course on real estate investing. Without much money, he improvised marketing by tearing up cardboard boxes, writing “We Buy Houses” in marker, and nailing the signs to telephone poles.

Despite the success of that first deal, Monroe continued climbing the corporate ladder until age 25, when he switched into real estate banking. Monroe also uses creative ways to find opportunities. “Some of my best deals came from hospice nurses. Others came from trash collectors, landscapers, even Uber drivers. They know the neighborhoods and see what’s going on before anyone else.”
